….The month of September normally sees the strong winds of Summer subsiding and the Sunsets and Sunrises mesmerising us with colours of orange and pink filling the sky! Venus is shinning bright all month in the Western sky at Sunset and if you are are really lucky you might catch a glimpse of Mercury towards the end of the month, close to the Sun as it sets! It is a glorious time to be discovering the nature of this ancient volcanic island.
The brightest part of the Milky Way is still present with the central part, the heart of our galaxy crossing the night sky! If you want to observe this spectacular show of nature you must be aware of the Moon phases. A bright Moon in the sky will become the protagonist of the night and the Milky Way will be lost under her glare! The New Moon on the 7th means that we can enjoy the Milky Way from the beginning of the month through to the 11th, during our observations and then again towards the end of the month.
The Planets Jupiter and Saturn are rising in the evening light, becoming high enough in the night sky to allow us to observe some of their details with the telescope. These gas planets are at incredible distances from Earth. To be able to observe the largest Moons of Jupiter orbiting the Planet and the rings of Saturn with your own eyes is a true marvel to be experienced. The Planets are observable all month.
The Full Moon will be rising on the 21st this month. It is now that we can appreciate her affect on the Oceans of Earth, with the tides at their most powerful. The phases of the Moon and the changing light of the night throughout the month is essential for many species on earth, especially in the animal and planet kingdoms. The Moon phases trigger all kinds of responses in nature, including the turtles birth and navigation to the Sea, plant reproduction and even the regulation of the women's menstruation.
In September we see the Autumn Equinox, on the 22nd. On this day our Sun is directly above the Equator and day and night are of equal length!

Es el momento perfecto para descubrir la natura de nuestra isla volcánica antigua. La parte la más brillante de la Vía Láctea está presente todavía en la parte central, el corazón de nuestra galaxia, traveseando nuestro cielo de noche. Si quieres observar ese espectáculo de la natura, tienes que conocer las fases de la Luna. Una Luna brillante se transforma en la protagonista del cielo de noche y la Vía Láctea desaparece en su luminosidad. La Luna Nueva empieza el día 7, entonces, podremos aprovechar de la Vía Láctea desde el principio del mes hasta el día 11 durante nuestras observaciones, y de nuevo al final del mes. Los planetas Júpiter y Saturno suben bastante en el cielo de la noche para poder observar sus detalles con el telescopio. Estos planetas de gas están a distancias increíbles de la Tierra. Tener la oportunidad de observar las Lunas las más grandes de Júpiter que giran en órbita del Planeta y los anillos de Saturno con nuestros ojos es una maravilla que se debe experimentar. Se podrán observar los Planetas durante todo el mes. La Luna Llena empieza el día 21 y esto es cuando se podrá apreciar su efecto sobre los Océanos de la Tierra, con mareas muy potentes. Las fases de la Luna y los cambios de la luz durante la noche durante el mes son esenciales para muchas especies de la Tierra, especialmente para los reinos de los animales y de los planetas. Las fases de la Luna desencadenan muchas reacciones en la naturaleza, como los nacimientos de las tortugas, la navegación marítima, la reproducción de las plantas e incluso la menstruación de las mujeres. El equinoccio de otoño ocurre el día 22 de septiembre, cuando el sol está directamente encima del Ecuador y cuando el día y la noche tienen la misma duración.
